Still in academia, I just traded in some Institute management for some network networking. It is the same 1/3 teaching load that I currently have, so it is really a trade of one kind of paperwork for another. But it is a more practical position, as well as arguably more responsible. It should be an improvement, but I don't expect to be completely free of the BS.
