Most interesting, Don. The Snake River Plains is supposed to be the movement of the North American Plate over a hot spot that is supposed to be the Super Volcano now at Yellowstone. So I would have guessed that things would have cooled down significantly in Idaho, off the stove for a couple million years or so, but maybe there are still some active chambers that have been gouged out and form an volcanic range? Could the hotspot have tendrils? Mount Borah, an active volcano? A micro hotspot or a baby supervolcano? Don, you always make me think, and I love the concepts, mystery and awe that you instill!
