Hi Don, thanks for this information. Your notes about the thrust fault make me feel less foolish - I was thinking why would I describe (much less "predict") a quake BETWEEN two faults rather than actually ON one.... not very smart. Also interesting that a friend of mine who lives at the base of Mt. Diablo called me at 4:30 A.M. on Saturday (!) because the 3.2 Piedmont quake woke her up. She said it felt quite strong there, and it threw the centerpiece on her table to the very edge of the table. I live closer to the epicenter (north of it) but no one I know here felt it at all. canary
