What a relief

Thank you for posting this....

Although somewhat sobering, the result in Sonoma are a drop in a bucket compared to what happened to the Gulf Coast. It gives SOME reassurance that living in quake country isn't that bad.

Also wanted to point out, at least we wouldn't have to live in god awful floods and debris like the survivors in New Orleans did. As Canie pointed out, IF a dam broke it would quickly drain due to our position above sea. I didn't see anyting about dams in Sonoma county, that could be a good thing as well.

The article points out that there was no looting after Loma Prieta. Again the writer of this article just doesn't get it, the dire circumstance of 485,000 people loosing their homes. Loma Prieta was nothing like that. About 95% of the Bay Area and LA came through unscathed. If you look at the pictures from the newsreports they kept showing the same pictures over and over. Not so w/ the gulf coast. The media doesn't even know where to begin.

Of course its a mandate that all Californians should be prepared. And I think we should have all learned, 72 hours isn't going to cut it. But I'm certain we will never in our lifetimes see the horror New Orleans, Mississipi and Alabama saw here in CA.
