Brian, It is my style to write in a first-person narrative. Also, once again, as being from the SF Bay Area and afraid of earthquakes since I was a teenager, I feel that by sharing my point of view, the average person living on shaky ground could relate to my feelings. When Berkland and I talk with an audience on the radio, TV or at a bookstore, it works out nicely. He's the brilliant scientist, I'm the senstive, animal-loving girl who is fascinated by his work and he gives me a sense of empowerment by teaching me how to predict quakes. Animals is what brought us together. I'm sorry if this upsets you. No, I'm not sorry. I put my heart and spirit into the book. What else can I say? I cannot please everyone, nor should I try to do that. Cal
