It was my intention to make the book different. In high school and college all of the earthquake-related books bored me. This one is real, it's from the heart as a person who has lived on shaky ground all her life.
I included real people who shared real stories. I wanted the audience to feel what it is like to experience a quake before, during and after. And Brian, some of those anecdotes are gripping--and were written by other people worldwide. It's sad that you're putting down their unforgettable experiences. What's more, these shakers happened during Berkland's seismic windows.
