No Quake Faults In Hollister

Hi All. Just thought I would share this with you. Monday I’m going to go to the Chamber of Commerce Monday and see if I can locate people who did this survey. It sure wasn’t USGS as they are the ones who study the Calaveras fault on a weekly basis. It is true that the Calaveras fault doesn’t run through downtown Hollister. It is about 2 blocks west of downtown Hollister and runs through a residential area.

I don’t recall the last time we actually had an earthquake in Hollister, but we sure do have a lot of creep. Take Care…Don in creepy town

“Protected from coastal fog and valley heat by surrounding mountain ranges, Hollister has a pleasantly moderate, sunny climate year-round. Daytime temperatures average 72.1? in July and 59.9? in January. Geology Like the rest of California, San Benito County experiences seismic activity. However, in a 1991 study, geologists found no evidence of earthquake faults in downtown Hollister. Using U.S. Geological Survey standards, applied soils experts dug exploratory excavations at nine locations along every major street throughout downtown. They found no evidence of an earthquake fault at any of these sites.”
