That is interesting. Did you know that Vesuvius erupted 3 days before the 1906 San Francisco earthquake? It seems that Italy and California have a symbiotic relationship.

Just a curiosity, but if one notes that Italy has the "boot" configuration, California has an extension as well with Baja California. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like a shoe. To bad, it would have been fun if it was a high heel, like ladies wear. *grin*
