GAH!

We felt this at our place ( major understatement) I had just opened my eyes, looked around, and was half dozing and thinking of getting out of bed when it started shaking. Rocks were rolling down the mountains and this may have been the source of the rumble that I heard. We have damage out here to our stucco wall and a couple of figurines are toast. Pictures are tilted very radically with the sides toward the north and west angled down.

An air conditioner fell through the roof of a house up the cove on Avenida Juarez. Neighbors are reporting stucco walls cracked, the Wal-Mart was closed in La Quinta to pick up stuff that fell off the shelves, the Ralph's in La quinta is closed to pick up stuff, and our house is popping from the aftershocks that are rolling through about every minute. Also we heard reports of a couple of racks of slot machines tipped over at the indian casino in Anza. Said casino also has a 3 inch fissure in the parking lot and blackjack tables tipped over.
There are reports of a crack reported in the ground next to Hwy 74 in Pinyon Flats and numerous rockslides on 74.

The cats are ok. Spike is acting casual under the bed. Blondie is looking up-cove in the direction of the epicenter and wanting major comfort. Gary is doing an open house today in north La Quinta, and I am drinking a rum-and-coke.

I don't like the aftershock pattern and the microquakes under Palm Desert and La Quinta. If you look at the map that's where the ones between the main shock and Indio are.

I've filled more pitchers with water, we're good on ramen noodles, and I found the camp stove when we cleaned out the garage last weekend. Everything puttied down and strapped down stayed put.

Right now, I'm going to drink until I stop shaking. ;)
