Hi All. Just thought some of you might like to know how the quake in Tennessee got the attention it may not have wanted. A quake of this size in California would never be felt over the area this quake was felt. Goes to show what the difference in land mass can do for you. Don in creepy town

The online news source wmct.com reported that the earthquake of M 3.9 in Tennessee on June 2 was noted by most residents in the area and was the news of the day in most areas where it was felt. It was reported to have been felt like a semi driving nearby or as a sonic boom with at least two noises the second louder than the first.

Data on the NEIC website indicates this event was felt widely with maximum intensity IV at Nashville, Finley, Newbern, Ridgely, Memphis, Hornbeak, Adamsville, Obion, Henderson, Tennessee; Gracie, Kentucky; in Missouri at Caruthersville, Hayti, Portageville, Steele and at Guion, Arkansas. The quake was also felt with lesser intensity in Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Mississippi, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Alabama. This is the strongest earthquake in the region since an event of M 4.2 in northern Arkansas a month ago on May 1 (35-37N 88-92W). One other earthquake has hit the area in the past two years of M>=3.9 - an event of M 4.1 on Feb. 10, 2005 in northern Arkansas
