Glen,

Seismicity ebbs and flows with little underlying reason we can figure out. There is a chance the regional tectonic strain is higher this week by some unmeasurably small increment, or that the region is approaching a state of criticality, but this is purely speculation, and I wouldn't change my worries or behavior an iota because of it.

Increases and decreases in seismicity do play a role in some of the research trying to resolve whether earthquake danger is changing in a predictable way, in line with the theories i mentioned above.
