"earthquake cloud" over LA This AM |
OK, this is why I'm semi anonymous...I'll never get funded or papers accepted if people think I'm wacked. Look, I don't believe in earthquake clouds and have not seen any evidence that they are related to earthquakes...and I questioned a claim by Shan and a link to another web site. BUT, I am interested enough to look at a link on them...and there is an unusual cloud over Los Angeles to Catalina Island this morning a little after 7:11 AM today, Monday....and, well ahead (SE of it) is a linear band of rain. (www.weather.com zip code 93106, for example) There is a cold front sweeping through behind the cloud...and the overall shape in the expected broad arc.....but within this, and over Palos Verdes and Catalina and beyond, is a striking linear and narrow section with a parallel clear area (probably related to subsiding air. I captured the images and can email them as about 1 Mbyte .pdf files to people who request them. Maybe I'll watch these for the next hour to see if they maintain their odd form as the migrate through....
