Re: The Repository - Run It Up The Flagpole

Canie,

You're absolutely right, this board is not suitable for a blind research data collection project. I think it needs a web page which describes the program and an e-mail address for submissions along with a phone contact number for people who don't have the Internet. That may sound a little strange, but the people who live in Parkfield don't have Internet access because it is so expensive it can't be used.

I'm very interested in having contact from people who really don't have an avid interest in earthquake prediction but those who have had experiences before earthquakes that they noted afterwards. It would be good to offer them a place where they can say, "for what it's worth, my horses are running around or are unusually upset and this happens sometimes before earthquakes." It's the simple little things that we miss hearing about until after an event. And these same kind of people are not interested in public attention either.

Tonight I was thinking about the people in Parkfield and I wondered if any of them had thoughts that an earthquake was going to happen or if their animals acted up or if any of them dreamed of it before it happened. Maybe one day I'll hear about it.

There is much to consider for the repository, so I'll get out there and get some more ideas and hope it will live up to its full potential.
