Re: Off Topic. Have You Ever Wondered Why. Yes Ara, I have.

Hi Ara,

You said "Petra, you had better get a patent for your ears, and copyright all the tones!"

I'm sorry Ara, but I found this quite amusing. What would I tell the Patent Bureau about my ears? Dr. Spock, I'm not. Nor Ms. Spock either. LOL

As for the copyright, anything I've ever said about ear tones is meant to be shared, toll free. It's a gift. I never ever expect to profit from this experience.

However, we should keep in mind that no one in scientific circles really believes I hear anything. Most of them think I've got some kind of home brew equipment. It would be good if I did because I'd be more correct than I am now. Less margin for error and then I could simply duplicate it and give it to anyone who wants to hang their a.s out and become labeled as yet another "psychic housewife."

I was reading something on one of the USGS pages yesterday where this scientist said that only psychic people were predicting earthquakes and because they couldn't understand it, they didn't consider it invalid. This is kind of similar to ear tone theory, we don't know what it is, therefore, it isn't a valid way to predict earthquakes.

I came to the conclusion that seismology does not have the answer to ear tones and for the foreseeable future will not. It is outside of their realm of scientific understanding. But that does not mean there is not a scientific discipline which can address this earth sound. I feel at times like I'm watching people throwing rocks at the Moon and I'm yelling at them saying "It's the Moon you idiots."

We should not be so quick to label things we do not understand as weird or kooky. They are just things that some people don't understand. When I hear ear tones and they tell me that places like Parkfield or the North Coast are just about to move I think it is one of the most curious and fascinating experiences, each and every time. I'm sorry that more people don't hear them, but I'm more disappointed that it has to take a million reports for some to believe it's real and it has a practical application.

Frankly, I find it terribly amazing that anyone that can a single sound heard and know it belongs to a place on earth. There are no machines of any kind that I am aware of that can do that which to is amazing. To learn that every single fault has its own unique sound is equal to every person who has their own fingerprints again is amazing. But it also says that one day a machine can take that sound and know exactly where it belongs.

Today I turned a new leaf. I'm not asking for those is seismology to try and understand this anymore. I'm going to keep making my predictions just like I always have and I hope they will be generous enough to keep the fancy labels to themselves. If what I do saves one life on this planet then all of my years of research would have paid off generously.
