Hi George, Welcome to Earthwaves. I've heard ear tones from at least a hundred locations and none of those had any caves around them. But its an interesting thought. At least someone's thinking. LOL I've been at this ear tone thing since mid to late 1998 and little by little it has become less chaotic and more understandable. It does have a pattern that truly is discernable. Earthquakes have patterns to and I don't think its as random as some claim. If anyone has taken the time to notice, we've been on a Coastal Shift for quite a few months and today's off shore Rosarito quake is just another sign of the times. Seismology doesn't really fit for ear tones insofar as what it might take to get this kind of thing instrumented. But I think one has to have an understanding of both seismology and geology to be able to know what kind of an earthquake could emerge at a given location. My bottom line I guess would be that I need to find someone who will take this issue seriously and develop something that can collect the sound, figure out where it comes from and use it as an early warning system. Human beings have to many frailties including needing sleep and as faults are making sounds when we sleep, we are poor receivers. I know they go out when we sleep because everyone who has ear tones has awaken at one time or another hearing one in progress because its so loud it wakes you up. Please keep thinking. We need more minds at the wheel. Petra
