Hi John, Chris. It seems to me that of all the theories about what causes earthquakes plate tectonics is the one that is the most provable. There is GPS that indicates movement. You can see the movement in the way streams and creeks are off set where they cross a fault. Here in Hollister you can see the off set of streets and curbs. Water lines are broken on occasions. You have mountains where the land is pushed up, and then the valleys where the land has dropped.
