Cathyn He has some interesting ideas. Basically, he says when the seismicity rises OR falls more than the usual variation, it may be a sign of future earthquakes. He hasn't tested the ideas well yet. He can certainly identify areas with seismicity, usually we call those aftershocks. He looks for more than just aftershocks, but more testing is the next step. Only a few of his hotspots are supposed to be hit by earthquakes, and he has many hotspots, so you shouldn't be unduly concerned. He has more ideas that have to do with eigenvalues and eigenvectors of seismicity patterns, but we don't want to get into them here.
