tsunami triggered by earthquake in Manhattan (NOT!)

CNN had all earthquake tsunami coverage today (Jan 1) between 5 and 6 eastern time. They had a teaser that they were going to intervue Leonardo Seeber, so I had to watch the whole hour. CNN did its best to try and make it look like a small quake in Manhattan could trigger a massive tsunami. They did not actually say that, but the way they edited, it was implied. That is not at all what Seeber was talking about, but he had no control on what they edited together (e.g,, mega wave drowing Manhattan from the movie Day After Tomorrow). He was basically saved from embarassment by the last sentence or 2 of the report, where he said that a tsunami from volcanic island collapse was a miniscule risk. I think he also said that less attention should be paid to eastern earthquakes than California earthquake...although I think his point was also that there was a significant risk from eastern quakes, including those from a fault in Manhattan.

Seeber is supposed to be finishing editing the paper I am working on, and I am supposed to be finsishing incorporating his edits....but communicating to the public is more important at this time...I did get a fair amount done today on this...
