Today's (Dec 31) NY times shows the modeled position of the tsunami. This time, I assume it is accurate. It is different than Monday's map....but, for the western Indian Ocean, more like 15 to 30% slower than the 50% I suggested. I think this is because the early model did not include the shallow spreading center (that is my guess from the discrepency). But, the article did not actually give arrival times that were measured ....so I can't tell from the article how precise the new model is....

The early model was pretty good as far west as Sri Lanka....
