Re: Cascadia, tsunamis |
Hi Chris. I live in Seattle and somewhere in my fuzzy brain I remember coming across information about an "dead forest" buried in Lake Washington. I think that they believe it occurred when the Seattle Fault broke loose last which may have been 1,100 years ago. Someone please correct my dates. I'm in a holiday fog! I know that Seattle experienced seiches from that Alaskan quake a year or two ago 7.9? maybe....anyway, I know that houseboats broke loose in both Lake Union and Lake Washington. I haven't heard anything about this quake and doubt that anything that noticeable would have occurred in the PNW. I'm on the east coast right now and return tomorrow but I have spoken with people there and haven't heard about anything unusual. Of course when the CSZ does its thing, I have a feeling that all of those large bodies of water will respond. I'll have to search around to see if they have found evidence of this for events other than the Seattle Fault. I believe they have and I may have read about it so long ago that I'm not recalling it at the moment. Follow Ups: ● Re: Cascadia, tsunamis - Chris in suburbia 13:04:43 - 12/27/2004 (24022) (0) |
