There was in the last hour a 3.8 on the map about 1/2 way between Steve's and John's locations...we'll see if it is real, and then see if it holds up as the largest....I'm back in my hotel....it gets tiring to stand all day....as for a report on AGU...I have not read Petra's day 2 yet...I have not been focusing on earthquake or fault stuff yet...paleo-climate, landslides....Oh, yeah, Jim Dolan gave a talk with a nice model on why fault zones in southern California switch on and off....these days, the San Andreas is not slipping as fast as its 1500 year average, the Garlock is slipping 1/2 as fast, but the eastern California Shear zone is slipping 2 1/2 times as fast.....I did not catch whether the thrusts around Los Angeles were slipping slower...but they should slip slower than usual when the ESE-WNW restraining (Mojave) segment is slipping slower...
