music prodigy

60 minutes just had a segment on a 12 year old prodigy who wrote 5 symphonies this year. They just appear fully formed in his head and he just goes to his Imac and writes them down. And, they are good on the first shot...he does not change anything....for all the different instruments in the orchestra. It only takes him a few hours to write a symphony (which seems impossible...that he could not type that fast). This was wild, crazy stuff. It might make some of you think that a perfect earthquake prediction could arrive fully formed in someone's head....but it might be only one person every 200 years...and if that person does not recognize what is there, then it is lost. Or, maybe only music arrives that way.

I am not a prodigy...to write one paper, it takes several months, and several rewrites, and editing by co-authors. I'm within a few days work of being able to submit a longish paper on the Santa Monica Bay faulting....but can't put a few days together until after the AGU meeting in mid-December.
