Hi Chris. There are more quakes in Romania then I thought there would be. For some reason I didn’t think there would be very many large quakes there, but they do get their share of them. It could even be said they get more then their share of them.

The earthquakes of 10 November 1940 (M=7.4), and of 4 March 1977 (M=7.2) were the largest in this century. It is believed that the great earthquake of 1802 may have reached M=7.7. The upper limit of magnitudes for Vrancea earthquakes is in the region of M=8.0.

Using the ANSS quake catalog with a radius of 20 miles I found these earthquakes. There appears to be a lot more M>4.0, but to save bandwidth the listing here is for quakes M>5.0 and larger. Take Care…Don in creepy town
