Interesting link, but did you see the story right next to it?

They just found that there were tiny humans, 1 meter tall, living on an island in Indonesia 18,000 years ago. Their brains were the size of grapefruits. While I found this pretty hard to believe, it is a very elaborate hoax or it is true.

The rumor that our president is descended from these people is being investigated. O.K. that part is a hoax that I am trying to spread.

Starting in 1988, I spent about 100 days over the years inestigating faults on Santa Cruz Island. There were dwarf mammoths (or, mimmoths) about 6' tall, or some a little less, there until about 12,000 years ago...people were on the islands as early as 15,000 years ago. The assumption is that the mammoths went extinct. I like to think they just got smaller and smaller and can now hide really well. Maybe there are tiny people the size of mice running aorund the forests of Indonesia.

I just missed discovering a complete dwarf mammoth skeleton...I was looking hard at marine terraces or faults or something right where it was discovered the next year by Tom Rockwell...

That reminds me about the Island fox...when I was out there there were 1000s...now, there are only about 20 on each island...see Smithsonian magazine for the story...the foxes are being eaten by golden eagles. the golden eagles moved in because the bald eagles were eliminated by DDT. Bald eagles eat fish, golden eagles eat foxes. This is something no one could have predicted. Kind of like our jerking the environment around could do to us. O.K., time to drive my big car around. I hope the foxes make it. They are very cute. Plus, they eat mice, which are infested with hanta virus.
