Hummers

Hi Chris,

I share your concerns about global warming, but wonder when was the last time you visited Asia? The pollution from cars, but mostly motorcycles (most of the population of the countries I've visited can't afford cars) is (forgive the pun) ghastly. All the old Chevy's and new Hummers in this country don't amount to diddly compared to, say, the air quality in New Delhi or Hanoi. The skies over Cambodia are mostly clear, but that's because Pol Pot literally decimated the population between 1975 and 1979. Tokyo, Osaka, and other large Japanese cities: bad. Hong Kong: bring something to breath through. Chinese cities, horrible. And then there's the Middle East, where I haven't been and don't want to go, but where you see these motorcycles spewing black exhaust on T.V.

What's really needed is a program to bring Asia up to speed on Global Warming issues. If some countries even care. Most of India is a motorcycle madhouse.
