Geysers Fire Continues to Rage

(KCBS/AP)--More than 1,000 firefighters continued to do battle Sunday against an almost 10,000 acre wild land fire in Sonoma County with little progress made on containing the massive blaze.

KCBS reporter Henry Mulak in Healdsburg says the Sonoma County fire, which began Friday, had burned 9,264 acres. Because of the heavy smoke, it was very difficult to determine the exact size of the fire until late Saturday.

It was only 10 percent contained by 9 a.m. Sunday morning, according to Janet Marshall, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental with officials saying it was connected to the Geysers Geothermal Plant.
