Todd, the number killed in the last major earthquake in Toykyo was less by ten thousand than the number we killed in the firebombing of Tokyo alone in WW II, and we fire bombed a number of large cities in Japan.Plus, building codes in Tokyo are among the strictest in the world. I think they fully realize the risks the area is under. In fact, they may be doing more in the way of reducing earthquake casualities than any country concerned with these things.

Still, I found the article interesting. I know it will be for Don, who has spent decades living in that country and is married to a Japanese woman. (Very nice, btw.)
