We heard that one before, actually a few times before, if you recall. The only time I've ever heard of a real case of threatening was on another board where one woman was making threats against a sensitive. She got her name, looked her up and started sending e-mails, then it led to telephone calls. It was rather frightening to the sensitive, but because she lived on a military base the FBI got involved. They contacted the woman within 24 hours and told her to knock it off. It continued for a bit though and they cut her off from using the Internet entirely even though the woman used the Internet outside of her home. Which was rather interesting.

In the case referenced below I do not believe this is actually occurring because if it were occurring the person only has to call the police and they act and swiftly. They can track it back to a persons ISP in no time at all these days and get the information on the user and be at their door within 24 hours. I think there is absolutely nothing said on this board which would lead to a serious threat of any nature. More than likely, they'd call the humor squad for a good laugh.

Considering all but one of us uses a real name and none of us has up to now been threatened with anything, it seems highly unlikely it would occur in the future. The only threats I've seen here so far is the one posted to our dear Dr. John earlier this evening. He probably knows how to handle that one. I'm going to file a complaint with Canie over it. Being rude is one thing, threatening a prominent U.S. scientist is quite another. That is unforgivable. I pray he comes to his senses rapidly.

I had wondered earlier if EQF/EDG and so forth would be happy being here mostly alone with no one to challenge or congratulate his efforts. Its like an empty house. A performer with no audience. And to think that all of this could have been avoided if he only chose to prove his statements and actually issue one single prediction, regardless whether it was a success or a failure. But you know how it is, in his case to be wrong after saying so many times he is years ahead of everyone else and is the King of Prediction could cast the spell of disaster if he was wrong. Of course, we don't feel like that. We all try and sometimes we are right and sometimes not. We just take it in our stride.

We go through this same issue at least once a year, get over it and then wait till next year. This time I'd like to see a permanent solution.
