EQF...I would vote "strain-related processes". Speaking of Lowell Whiteside, I wonder how he and Geoforecasters are doing. He was a good friend but I'm sure I irritated him by questioning his ideas and results on this page. But, at the same time, I've acknowledged that he had P and S wave distant triggering in his Comps paper in about 1990, 2 years before Landers earthquake showed seismologist that there was such a thing. And, about 8 years ago or more (gee, I'm getting freaking old), I sat between 2 famous seismologists at the last SCEC annual meeting held at Ojai, and both knew Lowell, and one had a physical mechanism why you would expect magnetic storms to trigger earthquakes...and that is the one correlation that Roger has not done (and, yes, Roger, I did not follow up on your offer to do this). I bet Lowell would be a pretty cool science teacher, if that is what he is doing......
