Earthquake Pairs |
Hi Roger, I would probably recommend against trying to do too much work with the sun – Earth – moon angle data. At the present time I cannot see where there is a clear goal to move towards in studying them. If you would like to work on perhaps the most significant data in earthquake science then you might try studying Earthquake Pairs, something I have been recommending to scientists around the world for quite a while. Earthquake Pairs are two or more earthquakes which my data indicate were triggered in the same manner. For example, the two very destructive earthquakes in Afghanistan in 1998 were Earthquake Pairs as were the two very destructive ones in Turkey. My computer programs make it easy to spot them. There are probably hundreds which can be easily identified and studied. The object is to determine why they were triggered under the same conditions. What are the geophysical forces which were important, tides, sun and moon position etc. However, in addition to being highly significant and important this subject matter really gets you into advanced geophysics and celestial mechanics. But, if you want to work on something relevant then that would probably be my first choice.
