Hi All,

Proving the ear tone experience is related to earthquake phenomena is a vast and complex research project I've undertaken. I've done so because I want to understand how it works and if it has a value in prediction, then I would like to see it become a part of scientific data which acknowledges that it does. For the most part, ear tones are heard often and do not relate to deadly earthquakes. This is simply because few deadly earthquakes occur each year.

First we must acknowledge that each ear tone recipient hears ear tones differently. Some have a left sound which indicates quakes to the west and north, where another will find that the left ear relates to east and south. I believe this is as a result of the physical location where the ear tone recipient resides, but that is not a definitive statement.

Next we have the sound itself to understand. Sometimes ear tone recipients will hear the same quality of sound at the same time and at other times, they hear a different quality at a different time. My research has led me to believe that the sound is not a sound, but a vibration that is perceived as a sound. As each fault delivers this vibration, then one has to conclude that the geological make-up of each fault determines the type of vibration it sends forth and that vibration then has to be interpreted by the ear tone recipient. In that we have over 1,000 faults in California, making a correct interpretation of which fault is delivering this vibration takes much skill and practice, over a period of years. It also requires that any fault have several earthquakes so one can get a "fix on the location."

Then we must explore why earthquake faults would deliver a vibration prior to an earthquake. My research has led me to believe that as the asperities in the fault are breaking (like teeth on a comb) and this fracturing process creates the vibration. This brings us to the next question. Why at times to people hear an ear tone for a given area and no quake arrives? Quite simply, you may need many asperities to break before the fault actually moves. This is where making predictions based on tones can bring one to instant failure. If we use the scientific protocol in making predictions, they are expecting "repeated" results and ear tones cannot always produce these. This is a major stumbling block to the finalization of using ear tones for prediction.

The timing mechanism itself is another area one has to understand. Some tones are heard and within minutes or hours the quake arrives. At other times it may be days or weeks and in some cases as much as a year. The size of the impending earthquake does not have any frame of reference to the timing mechanism. So what does? This I have not determined.

When we look at what scientists have studied over many years and they do not at this point in time know why earthquakes happen when they do, then when comparing ear tone research we have to understand this process is just in its infancy. It does have potential, but one must be careful in their research to be accurate, to make proper documentation and not jump the gun in making determinations without a full understanding of the process.

As one considers the above, the use of any single ear tone from a person whom a researcher is not well acquainted with and one who does not understand the pattern of which the ear tone recipient receives ear tones can only lead to failure. This is because the necessary steps that should be taken to assure the ear tone heard has any validity has not been accomplished.

The road to success requires that a researcher work with each ear tone recipient and make a determination of the persons proclivities and after working together for a period of time, the data received can then be formulated into some firm knowledge. The use of random ear tones without making this clinical study has no value because the essential understanding about the ear tone recipient is missing. One of the most primary essentials is knowing where the ear tone recipient resides. Without that single piece of information, there is no basis for making a determination as to a possible future epicenter.

I have made a firm commitment to understanding the ear tone process and its relationship to being a known earthquake precursor. But the process to a full understanding is going to take considerable time to make a proper evaluation. I would only like to ask, that anyone who wishes to undertake this research do so with a serious attitude, be careful in documentation and make no conclusions until such time as the data gathered has proven it has merit.
