I would be leaning more towards your magnitude 5.7 simply because it was felt all the way out to Twentynine Palms and widely felt in the Coachella Valley. There was a news report on our local news here about how they were checking for damage at the (ultra-expensive) art galleries on El Paseo in Palm Desert.

It was felt at my office in Palm Springs and my husband felt it in La Quinta where it rattled the computer monitors in his office.
