Hi Todd and All,

I've learned from Brian Hackney this show will be rebroadcast on Sunday, May 23rd at 8PM. I hope those who are serious about learning the state of our area will tune in or tape the show.

Before Loma Prieta the immediate San Francisco Bay Area used to have a 3.0 earthquake on average every 18 days. That pattern has been absent since Loma Prieta, but twice since then we have had two 4.2 earthquakes very close to Albany with ensuing damage. Of course the reason for the damage is that the quakes are so shallow and that is the story of the Hayward Fault, shallow earthquakes. People who live along the corridor have told me frequently that they can even feel 2.5 quakes. So imagine what a 4/5/or greater feels like? It feels serious. Both of the quakes near Albany broke windows in the Plaza Shopping Center on San Pablo Avenue, windows in nearby residences and even toppeled chimneys. Interesting, huh?

Now keep this in mind. We have a group of scientists who up until now were very wary of saying anything about potential earthquakes in the future. It just wasn't discussed, to today where not only is it discussed by they are telling us a lot. They are doing it because it's necessary. But if people wish to ignore the truth of the warnings, then they can.

After the San Simeon earthquake we heard, "well, they should have expected it because they have an earthquake about every 50 years." But did anyone go down there and tell the current residents that? NO. So better told ahead of time then to hear a presumption that we should have known. If they say we haven't had earthquakes of 7.0 or greater other than the 1906 quake, I know they are right because they are recorded in local newspapers. I've read quite a number of them, so the timing is not an educated guess, it is a known fact. The trenching operations simply confirmed the magnitudes of the quakes. So there is a lot of truth in this information.

I hope you'll tune in and I think you'll be very impressed with the presentation.

Petra
