Good special effects, but not enough of them.

Nice surprise that the governor was a woman.

A giant quake east of Redding and no one in Redding even feels it, let alone Sacramento?

If I hear that whiney teenager (dressed like a Junior Hookerette) bi*ch about nothing or call out for "Dad" one more time, I'm gonna reach into my screen and slap her silly. Four of my five have passed that age, and not one of them even came close to acting like such a little snot. Blech.

Totally unnecessary subplots, I guess to add the human interest factor, and too many of them. Do we even care? Tighten it up, boys.

SF is leveled, but all we see is the GG bridge going down.

A rupture exactly along train tracks. One in a billion odds.

Quicksand and they don't make their escape earlier, especially since Dad has already seen one buried car with dead bodies inside?

Everyone except the head of FEMA just happens to be handsome or pretty.

Even I can spot bad science. And bad terminology no seismologist would use or suspect. (A slip-slip fault? An aftershock bigger than the main shock? And I'm sure tonight we get to see half of California drop into the sea.)

Evacuate the whole state? I don't think so.

I'm going to a Laurie Anderson concert tonight but will tape the second half so I can fast forward through the seemingly endless commercials.

More gripes, but it's time to hop in the shower and start getting ready.
