Hi All,

I received a call from Bob Anderson, one of the commissioners of the Seismic Safety Commission today and we had a nice chat about developments for television they currently have underway. Though these projects are not the same as I had in mind, the Director of the commission sent me e-mail today expressing he has the same interest as I do and we will talk about that next week.

The following projects are underway:

• A 27 minute video has been developed which will air in the LA region this summer.
• The video will be packaged in a kit to give to school teachers including the Association of Geology Teachers.
• Along with these, two 60 second PSA's have been produced through KPIX-TV in San Francisco with the assistance of the Red Cross. These will be incorporated into the 27 minute video before airing in LA. Of these, one is for business purposes and the other individual.
• At some unknown future date, those who reside in Northern, CA will see the video.
• The long term goal for education on earthquake safety is to teach students who will in turn teach their parents and their own children and in the next generation the seeds of knowledge will already be there. This follows along the same lines as other PSA's such as drunk driving for instance.
• Current projects include a major change to their web site so it can be read in both English and Spanish and they will include a page devoted to earthquake safety tips. This web site is designed and maintained by U.C. San Diego.
• Mr. Anderson had not viewed my web site before we spoke and I suggest he take the tour at the Zone to have a look at some of my situational earthquake safety scenarios and invited him to use any of the information there if he chose to do so.

It seems that my idea was no so far away from those in the SSC and hopefully we'll see some good developments in the not so distant future.
