Hi Canie,

On the anniversary of the Great Alaskan quake, I'll be in your neck of the woods, so you can relax and know all will be well. So I'll make this forecast for LA, San Diego, Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico. For the week of 3/29 through 4/2, there will be no earthquakes of any interest to anyone. All people in geosciences can take the week off, go the beach and have a good time and know no one will need you. I think I should be rented out for special occasions when there are dire predictions for horrible earthquakes and they can consider me a lucky charm. But I cannot be used for sacrifices.

They say miracles happen every day and we just have to know how to look for them. Miracles happen during earthquakes too. In consideration of the magnitude of this earthquake and how much land mass was moved, including houses marching to the sea, it truly was a mircle so few people died.

Loma Prieta was a miracle earthquake too. On one strange day, just due to a baseball game, literally thousands of lives were saved.

We should always remain hopeful that more miracle earthquakes are yet to be seen and noted. Life is indeed strange, but marvelous so at times.
