on 7 January a seismic event and significant surface deformation, on 9 January a 300-m-long fissure and a small ~2-km-long lava flow ending 10 January

COTOPAXI Ecuador 00.677°S, 78.436°W; summit elev. 5,911 m
during 29 December to 4 January, the number of earthquakes slightly increasing, on 2 January a strong smell of sulfur

DUKONO Halmahera, Indonesia 1.70°N, 127.87°E; summit elev. 1,185 m
during 7-13 January, low-intensity eruptions and plumes to low levels

FUEGO Guatemala 14.47°N, 90.88°W; summit elev. 3,763 m
an ash emission on 8 January to ~6.8 km, plumes visible on satellite imagery

KARYMSKY Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia 54.05°N, 159.43°E; summit elev. 1,536 m
during 2-4 January ash deposits visible on the volcano's snow-covered flanks, ash visible on satellite imagery on 8 January at a height of ~7 km

volcanic activity during 7-13 January continuing with emissions of gas, steam, and ash, to ~6 km, then to 7.6 km on 14 January
