Interesting Earthquake

Hi All,

Though this earthquake is very small, it is important as it occurred at the very base of the Rodgers Creek Fault where very few earthquakes occur. The last time this fault segment broke was around 1683.

A microearthquake occurred at 5:23:50 PM (PST) on Friday, January 9, 2004.
The magnitude 1.9 event occurred 6 km (4 miles) E of Black Point-Green Point, CA.
The hypocentral depth is 10 km ( 6 miles).
