Hi Chris. Thanks a bunch for sending me the maps. You’re right. The way he posted it isn’t the best. I preferred the ones you sent me as I can adjust them to suit my taste. I think you may be right about the hint of two faults being involved here, but did they fail at the same time or did the second one fail at a later time? When I first saw the clusters as they were occurring the first thing that came to mind was that a second fault had failed.

There is the possibility that the quake occurred on an unknown fault. From what I’m learning they don’t really have much data about the faults in the area, as there just hasn’t been that many past quakes there to get a good picture of the faults.

This quake did confirm what Petra and I have been talking about though. The unreinforced buildings that were retrofitted survived the quake. They still may have to be torn down, but no one was killed in them. They stayed up so the people could get out of them. Those that stayed in the buildings were able to walk out after the quake was over. Just goes to show that you don’t need a large quake to do a lot of damage where the buildings aren’t designed for the largest quake that could occur in the area. Take Care…Don in creepy town
