Hi Chris,

While some people on this board seem not willing to divulge their sources, I am not one of them. This information was provided by Dr. Robert Trombley of the SW Volcano Research Centre.

Furthering this, in 1999 I spent a day with Dr. David Hill of the USGS and Dr. Roy Bailey, retired USGS on a volcanic tour of Mammoth including the Inyo Craters and Lake Mary. It was fantastic. I attended with Geologist Charles Watson of Seismo-Watch. From everything I learned that day, there is NO expectation of a sudden and unexpected eruption. Even the CO2 levels at Lake Mary have now reduced and the deforestation has slowed down considerably, though I'm not positive it is at a total end today.

Actually the best part of the trip was having Watson in my sports car, tire to tire full of his seismo stuff. He barely fit in. From Reno to Mammoth it was a non-stop classroom. Watson is a marvelous educator and quite an orator as well. He gives a commanding performance. I never laughed so hard in my life.

God, I love field exploration!
