Dom, I woke up at 5 AM eastern-I noticed that the other offshore quake, the M4.1, has two different focal mechanisms, and they don't agree with each other. One is for right-lateral on a NW-SE plane (or left-lateral on the perpendicular plane), and the other is mostly normal slip. Normal slip out there may not be as unlikely as you would think, as there is a little releasing (pull-apart) step between the San Simeon and Hosgri fault. Strike-slip is more likely. These are liable to be automatic focal mechanisms, so let's wait and see what is really going on...Chris
