But conferences come in all flavors. The point of a conference is for the attendees to inform each other. We mostly write conference reports to keep the funding agencies happy, the real meat in reporting are the talks at the conferences, seminars at unversities, and the refereed scientific articles in the journals.

That said, an unspecified conference in an unspecified location with unspecified attendees is not sufficient reason to post here.

Especially since the majority of the people interested in earthquake prediction were in San Francisco a week ago for AGU, and probably aren't going to another meeting in another country over the holidays. We spent some time at AGU patrolling Union Square, as well, a very nice place, although no one got me a HumVee.
