Petra, That's hard to believe you could get that much damage from a quake that size being 60+miles from the epicenter. I remember that quake well. There had been some light rain that night in the Bay Area, which is VERY rare for the area. It was a gentle rolling feeling in San Franciso that last about 7 seconds. I remember the next day KRON interviewing engineers looking over the Golden Gate bridge and they said it didn't even quiver. I remember the bulk of the damage was in Los Gatos and areas surrounding the Lexington Reservoir and that a man died in the San Jose area after jumping out his 3rd floor bedroom window.
