It is unfortunate that there has been so much debate taking place. It obscures all of the earthquake science which might be reported.

For example, Roger stated that he was thinking about creating a certain type of earthquake probability calculation computer program and wanted to know if anyone was interested in something like that. Well, the initial version of that program did get written. And it is now in the circulation/testing phase. It sounds like there are no programs like it which are presently available anywhere. And I expect that if people like it then it will be made available to and probably become used by earthquake researchers around the world.

If that does come to pass then I would say that it is a pretty impressive achievement for the EarthWaves bulletin board. The effort did in fact get started here.

There are a number of other interesting developments taking place. It often takes a while before they are ready for general discussion.
