Don, in my opinion, things would go much better if you did not automatically take what appears to me to be a hostile response to everything which is posted here. I was not trying to criticize Petra. I simply tried to point out that some of us are not familiar with cities on the U.S. West Coast. And it would help if an exact forecast like the one she posted were accompanied by latitude and longitude information etc. so that people can better evaluate the data. I did check her data against my own. And I have stated that I will post updates if and when time permit.

As I have proposed repeatedly in past notes, each earthquake forecaster needs to determine how his or her own information should be discussed and evaluated. And I myself am using the approach I am for what I feel are very good reasons. It is unfortunate that this is making you unhappy. But I don’t plan to change my approach any time soon just to suit your interests. The subject of forecasting earthquakes is extremely serious. I am an experienced scientist and believe that I both know what I am doing am using the right approach regarding public forecasts. And I believe that some of my important international contacts agree with me on that. So I suggest that you stop complaining. I feel that it just makes many board visitors unhappy.

Getting back to business, I stated that I feel that a significant earthquake could be about to occur. And I posted some general information about it. I feel that my just telling people that they might want to begin watching for one is by itself an invaluable piece of information. My time window and location determination procedures are not anywhere near 100% dependable. And so this represents an opportunity for other professional and amateur forecasters to see how well they can do with telling when and where this expected one might occur. Petra weighted in with an opinion regarding time, location , and magnitude. If you yourself want to add some probable location data etc. then let’s hear it.
