If the link below works, I think you will find that article from space.com very interesting-we may be in for a show tonight? I'd have to drive at least 100 miles north to get out of the strong sky-glow of New York, though....
It says it was early September 1859-it might be interesting to look at what is know about seismic activity within a couple days of the flare...Here is where we really need Lowell-he would know this. Chris
