Did you know it is illegal to publicly predict an earthquake in China? In China, that probably means a quick death or a slow one in prison if someone does make a prediction.

When I was there last year, they had all web sites related to earthquakes and prediction blocked - the mere mention of it was enough to make the sites prohibited. Needless to say, Earthwaves is not available there, nor was my business web site becuase of the link to earthwaves...

They are the only country to successfully predict and evacuate a city based on earthquake prediction - it did save numerous lives, but then they were shut down when they missed another devestating quake in the north-eastern part of China....

Human life in China is not a priority. They can't afford to build structures to withstand earthquakes - they just rebuild on top of what didn't fall down in the last one. Not only can they not affodr to build safely, it seems they don't think it a priority - there are LOTS of people in China. Unlike here, making something a priority because it would save lives is unheard of in a country with their population.

They don't seem to even have the word "Liability" in their language! OSHA would have a field day if they ever went to China..... Its rather a tough one to comprehend.
