Okay, talk about weird re: my post 19616, in which I discussed that I knew the San Fernando (Thanks, John.) earthquake was coming ten hours before it hit:

My younger son (Yes, John, that does make me quite decrepit) was just in Aptos for a few days visiting. As he was leaving to return to San Diego (La Mesa), I told him to be careful, because SD was about to have an earthquake. (I'll give anyone who wants to verify this conversation my son's cell phone number.)

He replied, being as psychic as I, "I know."

I was thinking the magnitude was going to be a bit larger, but perhaps this is just a foreshock. (Gulp.)

I then mentioned to him the possibility of San Diego being the location of the next large California EQ, and he agreed with me. Then I started grilling him on EQ safety.

Kevin is 21, but even as a child, he had a great awareness for "things that you just know without knowing how you know them."

When he was only four, he asked me, "Mom, I know I'm alive, but how do I know you're alive?"

I told him to go ask Descarte.
