Thanks Canie and Don

This page has been very interesting to me the last few days because I enjoy science discussions. Thanks Canie for doing this page. Also, thanks Don for your informative posts during a bit of a dry streak since Lowell left, and Roger went over to the other (sgy etc) page. But, I do remember that this page was set up originally for earthquake sensitives, and the science people can make some effort to make things accessible. But, there may be some minimum level that we assume (know strike-dip, rake (slip), hypocenter, normal, reverse, strike-slip fault, simple plate tectonics). But, I will certainly answer questions on the Geology side if asked here. I think amateur (sp?) scientists could make some science contributions, if they have the time and ambition (I don't have either for the following): get to know the earthquake catalogues (I don't know them). Make simple plots of, say, eartones to earthquakes if that is your thing (but, unbiased), of magnetic storms over, say, Kp7 (or whatever) to, say, midcontinent earthquakes over M2.5, or oceanic earthquakes, or whatever. You can just use some software like Excel, or you can probably find some free graphing software on the web. The results of these would be far more interesting to a scientist than, say, claims of success that can not, or can not easily, be evaluated. Chris
