Interesting article. I think it should also be noted that up to the early 90s, the attitude of geologists here in CA was absolutely not! I remember after the 94 Northridge quake a reporter in San Francisco asking a seismologist if this could trigger an event on the Hayward fault. And of course he was rolling his eyes and saying absolutely not. After Landers and Hector Mine, it became evident this isn't the case. Now we can never rule out after a sizable quake in the state what could happen next within the whole west coast up to 7 days later.
